The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program seeks to utilize skilled senior volunteers to address specific community issues and create community impact. Volunteers prepare taxes, prepare/deliver meals, assist seniors with enrollment for prescription drug coverage, provide help in dealing with Medicare enrollment paperwork, and provide repairs that address safety issues in the homes of seniors.
InterServ serves to recruit and organize seniors to accomplish volunteer activities. InterServ is the only organization that provides services like CLAIM, Medicare Part D Prescription plan assistance and tax assistance all of which require high degrees of skill, training and certification.
One of our most intensive and technical services is providing free tax assistance to the elderly. This is essentially a four month program that requires a lot of space and technology to operate. This program has generated over one point $5 million dollars of tax return funding to the seniors in our area for the past five years.
